Zanjan province is located in the central and northwestern part of the country, between 35 degrees and 25 minutes to 37 degrees and 15 minutes north latitude and 47 degrees and 1 minute to 49 degrees and 52 minutes east longitude of the Greenwich meridian. This province is bordered by seven provinces, so that from the north to Khalkhal city from Ardabil province, Rudbar city from Gilan province, from the northeast and east to Takestan and Buin Zahra and Qazvin cities from Qazvin province, from the south to Hamedan city from Hamedan province, It is limited from the southwest to Bijar city of Kurdistan province and from the west to Takab city from West Azerbaijan province and from the northwest to Miyaneh and Hashtrood cities from East Azerbaijan province.
Climate and natural features
Zanjan province in terms of land appearance, has two mountainous areas and plains that most of its cities are located in the foothills and plains between mountains and mountainous areas. The climate of the province is affected by two important factors, namely, how the huge moisture and heat fronts enter, and the topographic situation and altitude. The predominant climatic type of the province is semi-arid, cold (52%) and cold (18%), which covers about 70% of the province. The sub-arid semi-arid climate type has an average monthly temperature in the coldest month of the year less than -7 degrees Celsius. The average temperature in April, May, October and November is favorable and between 8 to 14 degrees Celsius and in June, July, August and September is warm and in December, January, February and March is cold.
Status of natural resources:
The important rivers in this province are Ghezel Ozan, Zanjanrood and Abharrood. The highest point of the province is in the heights of Takht-e Soleiman and the lowest is in Ghezel Ozan in Gilvan. The climatic diversity of this region has led to the creation of different species of animal and plant life. Due to the mountainous conditions of this area and the indirect effects of humid currents in the northwest of the province, the climate of the province can be divided into two areas: cold mountain climate with mild summer and warm and semi-humid climate of Upper Tarom. The average rainfall is about 300 mm. The caves of the province are: Katlekhor Cave, Goljik, Khormanehsar Cave.
Katlekhor Cave, which is the most spectacular and largest among the caves of the province and is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Iran, is located 80 km south of Khodabandeh. Also, the mineral springs of the province are: Vannagh hot spring, Abdal hot spring, Garmab hot spring and Aleppo Angoran hot spring.
Agricultural products of the province:
The main agricultural products of the province that are mostly exported are: figs, rice, grapes, apricots, apples, beans, cucumbers, onions, walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds, olives, garlic, pomegranates, wheat, barley, potatoes and sugar beets.
