Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zangani

Dar al-Saada Zanjan has been the center of science, culture, wisdom and mysticism since the distant past and has presented great scholars, sages and mystics to the society. One of these personalities is Akhi Faraj Zanjani.

He was one of the great mystics of the 5th century Hijri, and Pir and Murad were many of the great ones. Daraz rang the phone and that animal Bavi spoke and said: "Beat it as much as you can eat." He shook his hand while saying this and said leave four ends and spent all his life in the path of truth. Sheikh in the year 425 AH in Zanjan, Zawaye Akhtar Kurd built a large monastery, which was probably located at the entrance of the city, next to the imamzadeh of Seyyed Ibrahim. Wearing a robe from the hand of Sheikh Abu al-Abbas Nahavandi, he stood tall among the elders of the time and honored the devotees by attending his monastery in Zanjan city.

During the era of this sheikh, Zanjan had a mystical centrality and was the place where those interested in mysticism and mysticism came and went, and its monastery was safe and a refuge for people of heart and a place of retreat for dervishes and congregations of asceticism and mysticism. For example, whenever a group of guests paid attention to his monastery, the cat would call out to each of them, and the servant of the monastery would pour a bowl of water into the pot at each call and add to the food. "Let a dog pass away before a cat is exposed" Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zangani died in Zanjan on Wednesday, Ghara Rajab, 457 AH, and the Sheikh's shrine is located in El-Englab Square (northwest side) in Zanjan. do

The existence of a mountain called Chelekhane in the north of Zanjan city and a stone mosque known as Dash Mosque on the same mountain, where there are signs of it, is a sign of the practice of austerity and care of the heart by Sheikh Akhi Faraj and his disciples.

The method of Akhi Faraj relationship in Sufism and mysticism
Sheikh's approach to the famous mystics of Sufism and mysticism by Abul Abbas Nahavandi, one of the fourth century sheikhs - Sheikh Jafar Khaldi, who died in 348 A.H. Bin Abdallah Amuiyeh - Ahmad Aswad Dinouri - Mamshad Dinouri...

Monastery of Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zanjani
Sheikh built a monastery in Zanjan in 425 AH, and disciples, Taliban, seekers, pilgrims, and young men from different parts of Islamic countries rushed to his service for use, supplication, blessing, and provision, and extended their hands of devotion and need to him, and the pilgrims They asked for answers to prayers, blessings, peace of mind, advice and sermons from his great effort. In the Sheikh's Khanqah, a group of religious people, worshipers and ascetics continued to perform itikaf and engaged in worship, and according to the traditions and customs that have been handed down from old monasteries and monasteries, the Sheikh's Khanqah was the place of entry and abode of scholars, religious people, and mystics around and around the world. They used to enter the city of Najan during their pilgrimage and stay in his monastery. This issue is better understood from the story that Abdul Rahman Jami mentioned in the book Nafahat Elans.

As it is still famous among the people of the city, Sheikh Akhi Faraj is located at the foot of the mountain known as "Cheleh Khana", which is located on the north side of the current city of Zanjan, and is called Chelekhaneh Hill in the local language. There was a mosque there. It is said that the sheikh himself and his disciples used to sit there and understand the problems and discover the truths.

Death of Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zanjani
The writers of history and tazkira have different opinions about the date of death of this famous mystic like most of the scientists and scholars of science, literature and mysticism.

Written by Azar Begdali Abi Faraj Zanjani and Darashkoweh in Safina al-Awliya and Ghulam Sarwar in Khazine al-Asfia according to Akhi Faraj Zanjani, Sheikh Faraj Zanjani and Abdul Rahman Jami writes: Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zangani passed away on Wednesday Ghora Rajab year 457 AH and died in the city of Zangan has been buried And the eloquent Khafi writes, among the events of the year 427: the death of Akhi Abul Faraj al-Zanjani, Bzanjan and Qil in the seventh and fifth years and Arbamae. And Seyyed Muhammad Nur Bakhsh, as I wrote before, says (454 A.H.) again as it happened, the owner of history Kabir writes in the four hundred and two entries in the book of Shahid Sadiq: Khwaja Abdul Khaliq Ghajdwani and Akhi Faraj Zanjani passed away in the year 557.

And Amin Ahmad Razi on p. 196, vol. 3, Seven Regions, and the author of Aturpatkan, on p. 417, have mentioned the words of the author of Shahid Sadiq. And Hamdullah Mostofi and Prince Dara Shkoweh wrote the history of 457. Now, taking into account the words of Saheb Tarikh Kabir and Shahid Sadiq, the difference is over 155 years, and the difference between the words of Saheb Tarikh Kabir and Nafahat Al-Alans is about 100 years, and both of these can be deepened and pondered. It is obvious that we have seen and will see a lot of such slips and inequalities in the biographies of the great men of this border and land like in other parts of Iran and the world.

In any case, according to this valuable person, Alans' words and the selected date are closer to the truth, and the same Wednesday of Rajab, year 457 is correct.

The place of the grave of Sheikh Akhi Faraj Zangani
According to the research I have done and most of the informed researchers and historians of Zanjan city, some directly and some of them quoted from their ancestors and predecessors, the tomb of Sheikh Akhi Faraj is located in the northern part of the western part of the former Pahlavi Crossroads Square (Englabe Square) in Zanjan city, between the building Dekakin and Hamam Alimardan Khan were located and it was a place of pilgrimage for the heartbroken and the suffering. After the construction of the street and the construction of the intersection and the creation of Dekakin, its traces have been completely destroyed. They lived in them.
