Wood carving is one of the industries that is created by combining art and technique (cutting techniques, wood selection and painting). Various sources consider wood carving to be a young and new art in Iran and determine its age of 90 years.

In the raised mosaic, the desired pattern and design is placed above the surface of the wood and then decorated around it, but in the flat or flat mosaic, the desired pattern and design is first placed on the surface and the inside of the design is empty. And then they cover the created pattern with colored sticks or shells. Different types of wood, ivory, oyster, inlay, etc. are used in wood engraving, and in the end, an image with a natural color is obtained, and in some cases, natural patterns are created from the natural veins of the wood. .

A wooden comb was obtained from the archaeological excavations in the "burnt city" area, which was cut into different shapes using two different types of wood and connected by a type of tree gum. Therefore, it can be considered 4000 years old. This art has existed in different forms in countries such as China, India, etc.

There are two basic points in wood broth; The first is the choice of wood, which should consider characteristics such as color, patterns of twists, knots and glands (loop and brosen).

The wood has different colors, such as: walnut, which is light and dark brown, or mulberry, which is yellow, and jujube, which is red. Some woods, like jujube, are two-colored, and woods that have a lighter color on the outside and a darker color on the inside have more resistance and are harder to cut than light woods. The second is to cut the wood, which should be used according to the board, and the seams should be fastened together.

Based on the context, the wood is divided into two types: 1- Wood context. 2- Color background.

There are 4 types of wood flooring: A- Puzzle flooring B- Parquet flooring C- Brick flooring D- Covering flooring.

Inlay is a colored background whose background can be of different colors, and the background is usually black. If inlay is mixed with inlay, it is called inlay inlay, and if inlay is used, it is called inlay.
