Haj Sheikh Mahmoud Atiq Zanjani (known as Haj Mullah Agha Jan Zanjani)

The late Haj Mullah Agha Jan was born in the year 1252 in the village of "Agh Kand" in Zanjan and died in 1335 in the city of Zanjan.

He completed his religious studies in Zanjan "Sayed" school in the presence of great scholars such as Ayatollah Fayaz Dizji, who was one of the taqlid authorities, and Mr. Akhund Mullah Gurban Ali and other great scholars, and in fairness, he studied jurisprudence, principles, philosophy, mysticism, and sciences. The stranger had enough information.
Perhaps due to his special way of life, comprehensive information about the various stages of his education and education is not available, but the amount that remains speaks of the depth of his sincerity and devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt.

The stories that you will read from him below have been narrated from the words and pen of one of his last students, Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Abtahi.
Although these lines cannot introduce this pious man at all, it is at least a tribute of religion and respect to the friends and devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.), may God include all of us among them.

real human
One day he was asked:
Do you know about alchemy and strange sciences?
I saw with a regretful look he said:
If man was created for such matters, it would be very little, man is more valuable than even thinking about such matters. If a man becomes a man, all these sciences and virtues will come to him automatically and he will not pay attention to them.

True mentor
It is narrated from him that he often explained and gave orders and said:
Avoid any idolatry, polemicalism, and backsliding that have reached that direction from your side.
Our infallible imams (peace be upon them) are alive, they themselves are mediators between God and people, they don't want mediators anymore; Because every Qutb and Murshid that you can imagine is not far from error and error, while the Imams of Athar (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them) do not have mistakes or errors, they are mediators of revelation, they are mediators of grace.
Once, one of his companions runs in the middle of his speech and says:
If this is so, then the sentence:

"Halek man lis leh hakim pareshdeh" (He who does not have a sage for him, a wise man to guide him) is doomed.
What is?
He replied:
If the hadith is authentic and has been transmitted from the Imam (peace be upon him), then the meaning was the Imam himself; Because at that time, people were arbitrarily following Islamic programs with complete ignorance, even at that time they did not have a reference for imitation, because they were the imams (peace be upon them).

And maybe in this narration, it means ordinary guidance, which of course, in this case, as I am talking to you now, every male person, friend, teacher, and mentor is necessary on the way to perfection, but if I said: do such and such action with The influence of my ego, do what will be effective is wrong. Come, entrust yourselves to me and pledge allegiance to me, and it is wrong for me to have guardianship over you even though I am not innocent or an innocent deputy.

Benefiting from the grace of Hazrat Ali (AS)
One of the companions told him in a meeting:
We have heard that one day Mullah Rumi and Shams of Tabrizi were walking in the desert and they reached Shat Abi. Shams said: "Ya Ali" and crossed the water, but Mullah Rumi fell into the water. Shams asked him: What did you say?
He said: As you said.

Shams said: No, you have not yet reached the position where Ali takes your hand, you should say "Ya Shams" and I should say "Ya Ali".
He was upset by the narration of this story and said to our friend:
I read hadiths and narratives for you, you tell me stories.
One of the characteristics of Ali (peace be upon him) was that during his worldly life, when he was the Imam of all, he did not have a gatekeeper or an opponent, now that he has left this world.
He is gone and his hand is better open, does he need an intermediary?!

They should neither say this nor specify in their words that man reaches a position that uses God's glory and beauty independently and has nothing to do with the mediation of prophets and imams (peace be upon them).
He himself is located in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as the Prophet and Imam (peace be upon him) use God in terms of rulings, Shari'ah, Tariqat, truth, and external and spiritual benefits, he also uses them.

Spiritual method and taste
Hajj Agha Jan's method was that the only means that brings a person to spiritual goals and spiritual progress faster is to appeal to the family of Asmat (peace be upon him) in its general meaning and complete their love and guardianship in the heart.
He was saying:
After the obligatory duties, the best thing is to visit the imams and imamzades and show respect to the sadats and express love and affection for them.

His own job was reciting prayer, but not as if he had chosen it as a material occupation, but even if several people gathered in one place, he would speak a little about the virtues of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him) and then recite the prayer. And he was crying.
Nowhere did he ask for money from anyone to pray, except where he had considered important things.

Sincerity in mission
Ayatollah Abtahi narrates, one day he said to me in Mashhad:
There is a man in Sahn Nu who has a mistake, let's go and fix his mistake. When we reached one of the upper rooms of the courtyard, I saw him going to the room of one of the scholars whom I knew.
I said: This gentleman is one of the respected scholars.
He said: If it wasn't, we wouldn't have had the mission to fix his mistake.

I thought that Haj Mullah Agha Jan has a history with him and they know each other. I saw that when he reached the door of the room, he forced me to precede him; (because he was never ahead of Sadat). Naturally, he entered the room anonymously, that scholar did not pay much attention to him because Haj Mulla Agha Jan did not wear good clothes and basically did not look interesting in terms of clothes, and he just greeted me and spoke with one of the scholars. And the famous speaker of Mashhad, who was sitting in the room before us, spoke warmly.
Haj Mulla Agha Jan raised his head and said:

"It's like you have doubts about a certain hadith that is included in the signs of emergence, but the meaning of the hadith is this and its explanation is like this, and he explained the contents in detail for that scholar."
I was looking at that scholar's face, he didn't pay attention at first, but gradually he raised his head. He once said: Who are you? My dear, how did you know my problem?! And how well you solved this problem that no one knew about!
He got up and held Haj Mullah Agha Jan in his arms, kissing him and saying: I smell the fragrance of heaven from you.

Pilgrimage of Imams (AS)
One of the students of the late Haj Mullah Agha Jan narrates:
During my trip with him to visit the Imams of Iraq (peace be upon him), he told me one day in Najaf:
Let's go to Basra, where there is a mosque, we should pray two rakats there.
Since I did not know how far Basra is from Najaf that day, I thought that Basra is like Kufa, which is not more than one farsakh, so I said: Let's go.
We moved together, we had not left the city of Najaf for a few steps when we entered Basra, we went to a mosque there and prayed two rakats and came out.
